Trumpster Interrupts Vigil For New Zealand Victims Like A Punk

When the mass murderer in New Zealand was revealed to have cited U.S. President Donald Trump as an inspiration for his Islamaphobia and hatred, the right lost their collective minds. They refused to hear any criticism of their president and his anti-Muslim rhetoric.

After that, a Trump supporter showed just how disgustingly hateful they’re inspired to be during a vigil for the victims in Cleveland, Ohio. Robert Cortis, a Trump fan who travels the country spreading Trump’s anti-Latino rhetoric, interrupted the vigil with his “Unity Bridge” float, playing loud music while people mourned. A CBS affiliate in Cleveland reported that:

‘Mourners looked on in disbelief as the float rolled past the memorial blaring music. The driver, Robert Cortis of Michigan, then made a second pass and played “God Bless America.”’

Cortis, who lives with his mother and funds his tours with funds from his GoFundMe page, has vowed to spread the message of the dangers of undocumented immigrants and did so during a vigil honoring the victims of the very dangerous Trump fan who shot and killed 49 Muslims and injured dozens more.

Cortis’s GoFundMe page says that:

‘The Trump Unity Bridge is touring the United States on its Build The Wall Tour!  We are stopping in both large cities and small towns across the country delivering a message of Unity while discussing the importance of securing America’s southern border.  Standing with the Men & Women of Law enforcement, ICE, DHS, and Border Patrol Agents. Join the Movement!  Request a Brick symbolizing your commitment to Build The Wall.  We will have TRUMP Wall Bricks available at every stop for a donation to support us and keep us on the road.  With your support we will Promote the message of border safety, and security while educating American’s the importance of securing our Southern Border!’

Cortis may seem like an outlier and a radical unattached to the Trump administration and the president himself, so it’s worth noting that he’s been invited to Mar-a-Lago, a property owned by the president. This embracing of radical, hateful rhetoric is directly connected to the acts of people like the white supremacist in Charlottesville as well as the shooter in New Zealand, no matter how many blind eyes Trump supporters want to turn to those facts. According to MLive:

‘Sometimes his bridge is met with anger by people opposed to Trump’s policies. Sometimes he says his bridge gets him invited to lunch at places such as Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s mansion in Florida.’

Trump has attempted to make a good showing of standing by the victims in New Zealand despite his vows to ban people of Islamic faith from coming to the United States and his demonization of the religion itself. While he’s offered tweets and comments amongst his “I’m a victim of the Left” whining, he has never once uttered the words “Muslim” or “Islam” while he feigns sympathy.

The Washington Post stated that:

‘Mr. Trump, who could not bring himself to criticize the white nationalists in Charlottesville who chanted that minorities (Jews, in that case) would “not replace us,” on Friday said he doesn’t regard white nationalism as a problem. That’s the wrong message. Instead, he ought to state unambiguously that the New Zealand suspect’s “replacement” ideology is an unacceptable trope in civilized discourse.’
