It’s certainly not uncommon these days for families, even married couples, to disagree on politics. After all, the country is sharply divided on their political beliefs and Donald Trump is possibly the most polarizing figure to ever occupy the White House.
When one half of a married couple has a very public job defending the president and the other is convinced he’s mentally unfit to lead the country, that division is even sharper. White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, whose job seems to be offering ridiculous defenses of the president on television, and her husband George Conway seem to sit on opposite ends of the fence, and the president lost what’s left of his mind about it on Twitter. Mr. Conway’s response was hilarious.
Trump’s dig about “Mr. Kellyanne Conway” is classic sexism from a sexist president, but the rest is just the same childish response that Trump has to everyone who dares criticize him. It seems that most people who have an inside view of the White House and Donald Trump, including Conway, the FBI, and anonymous sources in Trump’s administration, have been repeatedly sounding the alarm. Trump comes up with some excuse every time why everyone else is lying, corrupt, crazy, and jealous without acknowledging that maybe they’re all right.
Of course, he also hasn’t acknowledged that maybe Kellyanne Conway feels the same way her husband does but won’t say so publicly for fear of losing her job. Stories of Mrs. Conway’s private disgust at Trump have been rumored since the 2016 elections and she was certainly critical of him when she still worked on Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign.
Either way, Twitter is delighted by the controversy and agrees with Mr. Conway whole-heartedly. Read some of their comments below:
