All too often people make Hitler comparisons and they are completely and utterly inaccurate. Usually, that comparison gets thrown around when people disagree with a particular political policy.
However, this time, with what Donald Trump is suggesting we do, and not denying we don’t do, he is behaving exactly like Adolf Hitler during his reign over Nazi Germany. And in all honesty, we should be terrified that he is leading the Republican field of candidates for President of the United States by such a large margin.
When it was suggested to Trump if he would like a national database to track all Muslim Americans, he agreed that something along those lines had to be done. Even implying that more than just a database would be necessary.
“We’re going to have to do things that we never did before. And some people are going to be upset about it, but I think that now everybody is feeling that security is going to rule. And certain things will be done that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy. And so we’re going to have to do certain things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago.”
Then when NBC report Vaughn Hill asked Trump along a ropeline, “Why would Muslim data bases not be the same thing as requiring Jews to register in Nazi Germany? What would be the difference? Is there a difference between the two?” Trump responded, or rather didn’t respond, “You tell me,” and then walked away. Hill tried asking the GOP frontrunner, “Should Muslims be fearful? Will there be consequences if they don’t register?” However, there was still no response.
His silence was deafening.
It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that someone who has a very real chance at becoming the President of the United States is actually suggesting something so unconstitutional, so horrific, that many are assuming he’s just misspeaking.
However, it’s becoming clearer and clearer, that Trump is, in fact, reading directly out of Hitler’s playbook verbatim. And not just in regards to this database system for Muslim Americans. His posturing and inflammatory rhetoric alongside how he strong-arms people away from his campaign events with his version of the Brownshirts, and then continues to bash all minorities, is terrifying. Never mind the fact that he also says things like, “I am the most militaristic person in this room, believe me.”
