Would-be presidential nominee and full-on American bigot “The Donald” has gotten so out of hand with his derision toward women, African-Americans, Mexicans, the press, the disabled, and now calling for a ban on all Muslims, that Anonymous is starting to take some of its focus off Daesh (formerly known as the Islamic State) and focusing it right here on our very own terrorist-in-the-making, Donald Trump.
Due to Trump’s latest “ban all Muslims” statement, the International Business Times reports that Anonymous kicked off #OpTrump as of Wednesday night, when the hacktivist autonomous collective knocked out Trump’s website www.trumptowerny.com with a DDos, or “distributed denial-of-service” attack, which is when multiple servers clog up a targeted site’s bandwidth so the public can’t get through.
Trump’s site was down for many hours before it was able to work through the attack and open back up for use by the public, but Anonymous promises that is just the beginning.
The more Muslims feel sad, the more ISIS feels that they can recruit them. The more the United States appears to be targeting Muslims, not just radical Muslims, you can be sure that ISIS will be putting that on their social media campaign. Donald Trump, think twice before you speak anything. You have been warned.
Wednesday night’s attack on Trump’s site isn’t the first time he’s been in Anonymous’ crosshairs, either. Just last August the non-group snuck into www.trump.com to leave a farewell tribute to Jon Stewart as he exited his longtime gig hosting “The Daily Show.”
Who knows what fun may lurk for America and “The Donald” once Anonymous concludes its #TrollISIS campaign, Friday?
One thing is for sure, though, this Republican presidential candidate needs to learn that a big mouth and a lot of money does not trump one’s responsibility to all the people they are running to represent, including Muslims.
