There have been quite a lot of shootings today, and if today is any indication of what’s to come, it marks the beginning of a bloody year ahead of us. The first child shooting of 2016 happened just minutes after midnight. She’s nine-years-old and expected to survive after she was shot while coming out of church.
An Oklahoma man opened fire on three teenagers playing ding-dong-ditch, a game in which kids ring a random doorbell then run. The man shot a 14-year-old honor student in the back, but that student is expected to survive.
Three people were injured in a shooting Friday while attending a wake for a 19-year-old woman who died during a car crash. The incident at the Tampa funeral home left two adults shot, one in the leg, and the other in the ankle. A teenager was also injured by shrapnel that resulted from the gunfire.
I’m sure there are a lot more, but that’s the short list of 2016 shootings. Happy New Year. Please stop shooting each other, intentionally or otherwise. Thanks.
We’re glad the Oklahoma man’s dog is OK. It’s hard to imagine why he’d need a gun in order to secure the family dog.
