The uncommon advocate for abstinence, Bristol Palin, who is a two-time mother outside of marriage and daughter of former governor and vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, was sued by the father of her new baby for child support and joint custody.
A Kentucky Medal of Honor recipient, Dakota Meyer, claims to be the father of Palin’s newborn daughter, according to WKYT-TV.
Meyer and Palin were engaged until last May. Shortly after their breakup, the reality TV star announced she was pregnant.
In addition to child support, Meyer is asking to list the child as a dependent on his income tax returns in alternating years. Bristol, the abstinence advocate, earned up to $262,000 as a public speaker on teen pregnancy. There was no mention of the amount of child support Meyer is seeking.
Meyer posted a photo of Sailor Grace on Instagram writing, “Best Christmas present ever!! I couldn’t be more proud of this little blessing.”
Sarah Palin claimed that Meyer’s lawsuit was merely an attempt to “save face,” and she commented to Entertainment Tonight:
‘For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic]. He has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby.’
Bristol Palin’s spokesperson, David Martin, also spoke about Meyer:
‘My values are such that a real American hero doesn’t ask for child support.’
