There is never a shortage of ugliness in the news, but this morning we have something fun to brighten your day. Sunday night, reports CNN’s Catherine Treyz, 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin finally got to do what she has been wanting to do for years — meet President Obama.

McLaurin has waited her whole life to see an African-American president, and, after that goal was accomplished in 2008 when President Obama was elected, she set out to get a chance to meet the President and First Lady in person. In 2014, she began campaigning on social media to meet the first family. In her YouTube video, she tells the world that she would love to meet President Obama; she then says to him specifically, “I didn’t think I’d ever live to see a colored president. I am so happy. I pray for you every day of my life.”

We are all happy that McLaurin finally got her wish, and we can tell that she was, too. When she finally got to meet President Obama and Michelle Obama, after coming to the White House to celebrate Black History Month, she couldn’t help herself and started to dance, telling the President, “It’s an honor, it’s an honor!” Watch the three of them dance together below, courtesy of  euronews via YouTube.

After their impromptu — but absolutely adorable — dance party, while taking photos with the President and First Lady, McLaurin told them, “I thought I would never live to get in the White House,” to which President Obama responded, “Well, you are right here!” She also told them again how happy she was to have a black president and a black first lady.

President and Michelle Obama have certainly been the recipients of all sorts of negativity over the last eight years, but, with President Obama’s second term coming to an end, there are still people like Virginia McLaurin who are glad to see him as our nation’s leader. He has made a variety of great strides as President of the United States, and, despite a near constant barrage of criticism, he still remains human and down-to-earth, as this encounter with McLaurin proves.
