Donald Trump has said plenty of disgusting, sexist things about women throughout his campaign for president. Has he always been this awful, though? Buzzfeed’s Andrew Kaczynski and Nathan McDermott bravely went where no one has yet gone and listened to hours of audio from Trump’s interviews on “The Howard Stern Show” and confirmed that, yes, he has always been a disgusting pig.
It seems that one of the most common things for Trump to do when visiting Howard Stern was to comment on and rate women on their looks. He spent time sharing important information like what score, on a scale from one to ten, he would give the women on Desperate Housewives. He said of actress Nicollette Sheridan, “A person who is very flat-chested is very hard to be a 10.” Of Marcia Cross, he said, “Would you go out with Marcia Cross or would you turn gay, Howard?”
Donald Trump, who has owned the Miss USA pageant since 1997, was also very vocal about his plans for it. In 1997, he said that he would make it easier for men to objectify women on television because he wanted to make the “bathing suits to be smaller and the heels to be higher.” In 2005, in an effort to promote the pageant and further encourage the objectification of women, he said, “If you’re looking for a rocket scientist, don’t tune in tonight, but if you’re looking for a really beautiful woman, you should watch.”
It cannot be ignored, as Kaczynski and McDermott point out, that Stern and his co-hosts add fuel to the fire and encourage Trump in his vulgarity and misogyny. In 2000, when talking about Pamela Anderson’s hepatitis C diagnosis — we still don’t know why this was any of their business — Stern asked Trump, “Would you do her, still?” Trump’s reply? “No, I’m sorry.” Co-host Robin Quivers, pushing Trump further, then decided to question whether he would sleep with Anderson or Whoopi Goldberg. Trump’s answer to that thoughtfully worded question? “You know, right now, I have to go with Whoopi. Look, it’s a terrible thing. It’s a sad thing. You know, it’s a terrible thing.” We sure do appreciate your hypothetical sacrifice, Donald.
