One of the things that makes Donald Trump such an objectionable human being is the fact that he simply cannot accept blame for anything. When NBC and Telmundo cut all business ties with him because he had called Mexican immigrants “rapists” and drug dealers, it was because the networks were trying to be politically correct. When Marco Rubio called him out for having no plan to replace Obamacare at this week’s debate, Trump accused Rubio of being a “choker” rather than admitting that he had not yet released any such plan.
Another charge which came up against Trump at the last debate was the whole matter of Trump University, a real estate seminar Trump offered and charged $36,000 for. What did the students who attended Trump U get in return? As Rubio so succinctly stated at the debate:
‘They got to take a picture with a cardboard cutout of Donald Trump. That’s what they got for $36,000.’
Of course, Trump denied that, just as he always denies that anything could be his fault. This is a man so arrogant, so conceited, that he once said that even though he’s a Christian, he had never asked God to forgive him for anything, implying that he is the only perfect human being on the face of the earth.
Which brings us to a rally Trump held in Arkansas earlier today. Speaking to a crowd of supporters, Trump tried to take the Trump University matter head-on and get out ahead of it, even though he will be forced to testify under oath in the case sometime in the very near future. He told the crowd:
‘We’ve won much of that case, they’ve missed the statute of limitations, and most of it is going away. The rest of it we’re doing very well, we have a very hostile judge because, to be honest with you, the judge should have thrown the case out on summary judgement. But because it was me and because there is a hostility towards me by the judge — tremendous hostility, beyond belief — I believe he happens to be Spanish, which is fine. He’s Hispanic, which is fine. We haven’t asked for a recusal, which we may do.’
If it’s fine the judge–U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel of California–is Hispanic, then why bring it up? Because it fits right into the blame someone else theory of life that Trump subscribes to. You can’t get a job, he tells supporters, then it must be the fault of the Mexicans and Chinese. It’s the old scapegoat routine. But the only real goat–not to mention horse’s ass–in this particular equation goes by the name of Donald J. Trump.
Watch Trump tell the crowd in Arkansas about the Trump University lawsuit. The vile comments about the judge begin at about the 21-minute mark:
