Anyone who was deeply annoyed by Stacey Dash reviving her airhead character in “Clueless” as a Fox News host, was thrilled when the actress set herself up for disaster last night. Dash agreed to be the butt of Oscar jokes, but instead of serving an actual purpose, she left the crowd extremely confused.
With the theme of the night being racial diversity, who else would Chris Rock introduce as the “new director of the minority outreach program” other than Miss controversy herself. Dash raised eyebrows recently when she chimed in with her own ignorant opinions on the Oscar controversy started by Jada Smith after no Black people were nominated for Oscars this year.
Dash said this on her “Fox & Friends” segment in response to Smith’s call for an whitewashed Oscar boycott:
“If we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black,” she told a baffled Steve Doocy. “If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”
Dash wrote an entry on her Pathos Blog to make sure that she milked this for as much attention as she could possibly get, (it’s hard being irrelevant and talentless) saying this about her very odd appearance at last night’s ceremony:
“When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not ‘black enough,’ they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks—and votes—just like all my friends.”
Dash obviously thinks it’s a better idea to vote with racist Republicans instead of voting the way the majority of intelligent Black people vote…Democrat. This is a good idea to Dash (who voted for Obama in 2008) because Fox News needed a token Black host and she desperately needed to be in front of a camera again.
So when Dash was announced by Chris Rock, the audience, like me, thought it was yet another joke. Then Dash comes out and the chuckling ends. Dash says:
“I cannot wait to help my people out. Happy Black History Month! Thank you.”
The pointless monologue left the audience confused, and with good reason! There was nothing funny about her presence after what she said on Fox News. To me, the incident went down as a total embarrassment for Dash, but she, of course, is oblivious to that.
