After his role in the armed standoff in Nevada almost two years ago at the Bundy ranch, tea party activist Jerry DeLemus was arrested on nine federal charges. He’s also the husband of Rep. Susan DeLemus, a New Hampshire Republican lawmaker and co-chair of the state’s “Veterans for Trump” coalition. The Delemuses are strong supporters of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
We all knew that armed standoffs were a very bad idea, didn’t we?
Raw Story reports:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Delemus on nine federal charges — including conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, threatening a federal law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, attempting to impede or injure a federal law enforcement officer and several firearms charges, reported Portsmouth Patch.
In 2014, Delemus traveled to Nevada to join in the armed standoff between Bureau of Land Management agents and rancher Cliven Bundy. Bundy was also supported by militia members, all because he didn’t want to pay his grazing fees. Bundy was arrested recently for the standoff and is currently still in custody in Oregon after he attempted to join forces with the militants who seized the Malheur Wildlife refuge near Burns.
DeLemus traveled to Oregon this time to visit the armed occupiers, and deemed their cause to be “peaceful” and “constitutionally just.”
State Rep. Susan DeLemus confirmed that FBI agents arrested her husband Thursday morning, the Union Leader reports.
“She said that the FBI just rolled up with lots of vehicles and Agents who were in tactical gear,” Jack Kimball, the former GOP chair, posted on Facebook. ”They forced their way into Jerry Delemus and Sue’s condo with weapons drawn and arrested Jerry and took him away.”
Here’s Jerry DeLemus having a nice chat with Ammon Bundy:
Susan DeLemus is no better. She was recently mentioned in the news after defending Donald Trump against Pope Francis, whom she called the “anti-Christ.”
About four years ago,she confronted state officials in order to keep Barack Obama off the ballot in New Hampshire. She was so unhinged that the assistant secretary of state feared for his safety.
