Even though it would appear that Donald Trump has sucked all the oxygen out of the room when it comes to media attention and publicity, a great deal of what Trump says is juvenile, sophomoric, akin to the kind of thing you might hear from a junior high boy who is trying to impress his peers.
So it should come as little surprise that voters are now looking for alternatives to Trump and even going so far as to say they’ve been searching for someone who will address the problems which confront the United States from a mature perspective. And George Clooney is one of them.
In a fundraising email sent out by the Hillary Clinton campaign, Clooney praised the former Secretary of State as “the only grown-up in the room” and added that Clinton is the “one consistent voice” amidst “all of this clutter” in the 2016 race for the White House. Clooney added:
‘If you listen to the loudest voices out there today, you’d think we’re a country that hates Mexicans, hates Muslims, and thinks that committing war crimes is the best way to make America great again.
‘The truth is, that the only thing that would prevent America from being great would be to empower these voices.’
Clooney also said he believes Clinton has a virtual lock on the delegates needed to secure the Democratic nomination:
‘As this primary process continues, Hillary could soon have an insurmountable delegate lead and with that, the Democratic nomination. That would then make her the only grown-up in the room.
‘And if ever there was a time for a grown-up, that time is now.’
And the Oscar-winning actor and director will be putting more than his words behind Clinton: Clooney, along with his wife, Amal Clooney will be hosting a fundraising event at his California home for Clinton in April.
In a prior interview Clooney gave earlier this month, he referred to Trump as a “xenophobic fascist” and political “opportunist.”
Whether you support Clinton or Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Clooney is 100 percent right about one thing: If ever there was a time for grown-up, that time is now.
