JUST IN: Mayor Caught Sending Naked Shower Selfie, Now In Hot Water

No matter how many times people are told to be careful with the things they send via their cell phones, tablets, and personal computers, some just never learn the lesson that, whatever you send to one person can, with the click of a button or a mouse, be shared with everyone on the internet, including your family, co-workers, and those you depend on to support you in the next election.

Such is the case with Chip Johnson, the mayor of Hernando, Mississippi. Mayor Johnson thought it would be a good idea to take a nude selfie of himself and send it to a woman he was seeing at the time. Tasteless? Most certainly, but now it could cost Johnson more than he could have ever anticipated. See, the woman Johnson sent the racy photo to decided to forward it to all of the aldermen on the Hernando City Council.

Yet, rather than be contrite and say he realizes he did something he shouldn’t have, Mayor Johnson instead said he is seeking legal advice because his trust was violated, which he called “hurtful.” He added:

‘I made a personal misstep and I’m not going to allow it to affect my job. The people have asked me to do this job and I’m sitting at my desk right now.’

Yeah, but are you wearing clothes? Never mind! We don’t want to know!

Mayor Johnson is currently in the process of getting a divorce. The woman who sent the nude photo of Johnson to his fellow city council members signed it with the tagline, “Your mayor.”

All of this brings to mind others who have been caught doing similar (or even worse) things, nearly all of them married. Remember former Congressman Anthony Weiner? Or perhaps you prefer to consider the case of former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who ruined his political career by engaging in extramarital sex with prostitutes.

The lesson has been made and reinforced more times than we can count: If you want to take photos of yourself in compromising positions, for God’s sake don’t send them to anyone. Keep them to yourself. For your own benefit, and also for the benefit of the rest of us who use the internet on a daily basis.
