It’s just been reported that a 17-year-old boy from Henderson, Kentucky shot and killed a 41-year-old sex offender. The convicted sex offender by the name of Kevin S. Marret allegedly began attacking the boy’s father on their property with a wood saw.
At 1:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, police were called to the scene at 197 Massey Lane after receiving a 911 call that reported a shooting at the residence.
41-year-old Kevin Marrett was found lying dead in the yard just off the house’s front porch. A Sheriff’s Deputy and a Kentucky State Police Trooper found Marrett, who’s cause of death appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Marrett is a registered sex offender and was previously convicted of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old. He had been out of prison on supervised release at the time of the incident.
It’s been reported that Marrett allegedly began to attack the homeowner with a wood saw when the homeowner’s son took a gun and shot Marrett in defense of his father. The shots were fatal and Marrett died almost immediately at the scene of the shooting.
According to authorities, the investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been laid against the 17-year-old at this time.
It isn’t clear why Marrett was at the residence to begin with, or why he was attacking the homeowner with a wood saw.
It will be interesting to see if more information surfaces in relation to this story.
Could it have been a possible altercation between the homeowner and Marrett?
What do you think? Are the 17-year-old’s actions justifiable? Should charges be laid against him, or was he simply defending his father’s life? Is this a good example of guns saving lives, or is this a gross misuse of firearm weaponry?
