That’s what US officials who were briefed on the investigation reported today on how many violations the FBI has found on Hillary Clinton’s personal email server.
CNN reports that:
Some of Hillary Clinton’s closest aides, including her longtime adviser Huma Abedin, have provided interviews to federal investigators, as the FBI probe into the security of her private email server nears completion, U.S. officials briefed on the investigation tell CNN. The investigation is still ongoing, but so far investigators haven’t found evidence to prove that Clinton willfully violated the law the U.S. officials say.
Officials said that the investigation is “focused on the security of the server and the handling of classified information and hasn’t expanded to other matters.” So far, however, nothing has been found that would indicate that Hillary Clinton sent emails from her personal server that were classified at the time.
Hillary Clinton will reportedly be scheduled for interviews as part of the investigation in the coming weeks. Interviews with Clinton and her aides, according to FBI officials, are routine in this type of investigation.
The investigation appears to be coming to a close fairly soon. CNN also reported that:
FBI officials overseeing the probe now expect to complete their work in the next few weeks and then turn over the findings to the Justice Department, which will make a final decision on whether to bring charges against anyone. Prosecutors from the Justice Department’s national security division and from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Alexandria, Va., have helped coordinate the FBI probe, closely overseeing investigative steps, the U.S. officials say.
The email scandal appears to be headed in the same direction as the Benghazi scandal, which was debunked by a Republican-led committee. Like Benghazi, however, we can expect conspiracy theories from right-wingers for fun-filled months to come during the 2016 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the GOP nominee is involved in multiple scandals of his own, ones committed on camera and in front of the public. It seems they’ll have less time to talk about a dying email scandal with Trump as the nominee, as they’ll need to spend most of their time walking back the numerous lies, missteps, insults, and bigotry Trump has displayed so far.
Fox News would have absolutely nothing to talk about, however, if they didn’t tout false scandals.
