America is united once again in a state of mourning now that Ted Cruz has dropped out of the Presidential Election. Nobody is actually mourning for Cruz as a political candidate though. Instead, they’re upset because losing Cruz leaves us with Donald Trump. It’s a bit like narrowly avoiding getting hit by a speeding car, only to be mowed down a week or two later by a truck.
Famous Conservative radio host Glenn Beck has not been shy in his support of Ted Cruz. He even claimed recently to have lost $500,000 on the Cruz campaign trail. Beck also famously, and perhaps naively, called upon America to fast with him in support of Ted Cruz:
It’s no surprise then that Beck is upset at Cruz’s failure to win the Republican nomination. The host has been pretty outspoken about his thoughts on Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and The Republican party:
‘Donald Trump is the face of the GOP. Well, that makes us crony capitalists. It makes us wafflers. It makes us pretty racist…It makes us big government guys. Just, you name it — it makes us that.’
Beck is one of the more moderate Republicans, if such a thing exists, even sort of being okay about gay marriage. Well…as okay as a devout Republican can be:
‘The question is not whether gay people should be married or not, the question is why is the government involved in our marriage? If it neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket, what difference is it to me?’
So you can understand why, as a Republican who seems to understand that his party can’t remain bigoted and steeped in outdated religious ideals if it wants to have any sort of role in leading the country, Beck feels let down by the GOP establishment who appear powerless to stop their party being overrun by Trump and his brigade of racists. Perhaps his most damning criticism comes by way of prophecy for the future of the Republican party:
‘Because Donald Trump is the GOP candidate, and I believe Hillary Clinton is going to win because of this, you will never elect another GOP person to high office every again…Because what’s going to happen is you are now going to have Hillary Clinton legalize as many voters as you can, the GOP is going to be completely racist – whether it’s true or not – because of Donald Trump. You will never have another Republican president ever again.’
Strong words that, if we all cross our fingers hard enough, might just come true. As Beck mourns the end of his party at the hands of The Donald, we can look to the future and hope that Beck’s forecast rings true, except perhaps with Bernie Sanders replacing Clinton as the Democratic President.
You can see Beck make his prediction below:
