A disabled Bernie Sanders supporter was left stranded on the side of the road by a Trump-toting tow truck driver in North Carolina last Monday.
The tow truck driver, Ken Shupe of Shupee Max Towing, claimed that the refusal of service wasn’t political. Yeah, and donkeys fly and Trump really is a nice man.
He gave 2 different alternative explanations. The first you can read below.
‘Something came over me, I think the Lord came to me, and he just said get in the truck and leave. And when I got in my truck, you know, I was so proud, because I felt like I finally drew a line in the sand and stood up for what I believed.’
The Sanders supporter, Cassy McWade, was shocked.
‘He goes around back and comes back and says, ‘I can’t tow you.’ My first instinct was there must be something wrong with the car, and he says, ‘No, you’re a Bernie supporter.’ And I was like, ‘Wait — really?’ And he says, ‘Yes ma’am,’ and just walks away.
As for the Lord thing in his initial explanation, he must have forgotten, as the woman herself noted to the media, that Jesus wouldn’t have treated someone like Shupe did.
As a follow up excuse, according to local Western North Carolina news, “Shupe says he has had 2 customers over the past 6 months cause him problems over paying his bills.” He must run a pretty good business then, if only 2 customers in the past 6 months have given him problems over paying their bill.
And, of course, he doesn’t note why. The people in question could have had legitimate concerns. If they are calling up someone like Shupe whose job often takes — at least in theory — a humanitarian turn, anything could be the case. They could have no money to pay him with. Who knows? One thing is for sure — Shupe doesn’t care.
And he got the opportunity to share his lack of caring with this disabled woman on the side of a North Carolina highway. He gets it from his candidate of choice. Trump mocked a disabled reporter in one of his most shocking behaviors up to that point, flailing his arms in imitation of the condition that left the reporter with limited usage of his upper limbs.
