Donald Trump is known for his ridiculous rants. Nearly everyone who has ever opposed him, from Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton to former Republican rival Ted Cruz, has been the subject of one or more at some point. Trump’s latest victim, though, according to The Wall Street Journal, was the federal judge who is overseeing the civil litigation against Trump University, his fake university that was meant to teach people how to get rich like him.
In a packed San Diego convention center, following devout supporter and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Trump launched into a ridiculous, hate-filled tirade against the federal judge, Gonzalo Curiel.
‘I have a judge who is a hater of Donald Trump, a hater. He’s a hater. His name is Gonzalo Curiel. He is not doing the right thing. And I figure, what the hell? Why not talk about it for two minutes?’
In typical Trump fashion, the presumptive Republican nominee spent way more than two minutes ranting and raving about Curiel and the case against his now-closed “university.”
According to Trump, Curiel should be removed from the case because he is biased against him. His evidence to support that claim is that the judge has ruled against him and was appointed by President Obama.
‘We’re in front of a very hostile judge. The judge was appointed by Barack Obama, federal judge. Frankly, he should recuse himself because he’s given us ruling after ruling after ruling, negative, negative, negative.’
Trump also felt the need to point out that he believes Curiel is Mexican, saying, “What happens is the judge, who happens to be, we believe, Mexican, which is great. I think that’s fine.” Not that it would matter either way, but, for the record, Curiel was born in Indiana.
Trump finished up his diatribe saying that Curiel should be ashamed of himself.
‘I think Judge Curiel should be ashamed of himself. I’m telling you, this court system, judges in this court system, federal court, they ought to look into Judge Curiel. Because what Judge Curiel is doing is a total disgrace, OK? But we’ll come back in November. Wouldn’t that be wild if I’m president and I come back to do a civil case? Where everybody likes it. OK. This is called life, folks.’
