Donald Trump has been hit with a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission over his requests for campaign contributions from foreign nationals, including individuals in the United Kingdom, Iceland, and Australia.
The complaint was filed by two campaign watchdog groups, the Campaign Legal Center and Democracy 21.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Campaign Legal Center, Paul S. Ryan, said that Trump “should have known better” when it comes to his across-the-seas solicitations.
In the case of the UK, the requests for money became so extreme that the Parliament has moved to officially block the Trump campaign from access to its members.
In the case of Iceland, leaders said the letter sent to them via email from the Trump campaign left them “speechless.”
As reported by Talking Points Memo (the non-English letters are Icelandic):
‘“I have no idea why he emailed me the letter,” MP Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, a member of the Independence Party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn) and one of the emails recipients, told Morgublaðið newspaper. Katrín Jakobsdóttir, head of the Left Green Party, received an email from Trump. “This whole matter is very perplexing. The letter left me speechless,” she said.’
One of the Australian recipients of the email posted a screenshot to Twitter, which you can see below.

Ryan, of the Campaign Legal Center, went on, as reported by The Washington Times:
‘It is a no-brainer that it violates the law to send fundraising emails to members of a foreign government on their official foreign government email accounts, and yet, that’s exactly what Trump has done repeatedly.’
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee parades himself in his political endeavors as not being concerned with the correct way of doing things.
His flagrant disregard for what he terms “political correctness” — and others term morality and decency — has been a hallmark of his campaign, drawing out sympathizers to Trump from the edges of American society and into his campaign.
That which Trump disregards has been slowly building up to include legality, and it’s catching up to him. His desperation comes out of the fact that the Trump campaign has been dwarfed in size in terms of financial contributions by the Hillary Clinton campaign — and all current polls and models show him getting ready to lose the general election in a crushing landslide.
