The Donald Trump machine refuses to accept the mass shooting of 12 Dallas police officers has anything to do with the easy purchase of assault weapons, a culture of solving problems with guns, or a cartoon approach to gun violence – that people don’t die when shot. No, Trump blames Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama, and all liberals.

Trump states that both Democratic leaders are “making race relations worse,” both before and after the shooting Thursday night during a peace rally. Corey Stewart, Trump’s Virginia state chair released a tweet, then deleted it, but not before the media captured it:

The Trump people refuse to take into consideration that Trump is running the most bigoted, divisive campaign in history. White supremacists roam outside of his rallies, while inside the billionaire cuts every minority group to pieces with his words.

In a statement released by his campaign, the presumptive Republican candidate writes:

‘Our nation has become too divided. Too many Americans feel like they’ve lost hope. Crime is harming too many citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isn’t the American Dream we all want for our children.’

‘This is a time, perhaps more than ever, for strong leadership, love and compassion. We will pull through these tragedies.’

Trump released the whole statement in this tweet:

Ironic that Trump mentions the country “has become too divided,” since he is the greatest divider of all. The Republican Party has chosen a man to represent them who was a large supporter of the birther movement, claiming that the president is not a legal citizen of this country and is a Muslim.

Trump says Mexicans are “rapists” and “criminals,” and his solution is to literally build a wall to divide the U.S. from Mexico. How much more divisive can a person be? That wall is symbolic of his us-vs.-them attitude.

Clinton released this tweet:

This is the time for people to come together. A few words thrown out by the real estate mogul do not mend the ties he has done his best to break.

No, like a child who has eaten a candy bar, his face is covered in chocolate, but he points to his brother and sister, saying they did it.

Nice try, Trump.
