At a joint rally on Tuesday morning, Bernie Sanders formally endorsed presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.  During the course of his speech, Sanders made it clear that he believes this election is about more than him or Clinton or Democrat and Republican.

‘During the last year I had the extraordinary opportunity to speak to more than 1.4 million Americans at rallies in almost every state in this country. I was also able to meet with many thousands of other people at smaller gatherings. And the profound lesson that I have learned from all of that is that this campaign is not really about Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders, or any other candidate who sought the presidency. This campaign is about the needs of the American people and addressing the very serious crises that we face. And there is no doubt in my mind that, as we head into November, Hillary Clinton is far and away the best candidate to do that.’

Sanders endorsement is a welcome boon for Clinton and the Democrat Party so it’s no surprise that her opponent, Donald Trump, was not pleased. He took to Twitter to vent his frustration calling Sanders, a “sell out” who had no leverage. In all honestly, it sounds like Trump is simply jealous that so few of his primary rivals are endorsing him.

Trump continued his tirade throughout the day, repeatedly calling Sanders a sellout and compared his endorsement of Clinton to Occupy Wall Street endorsing Goldman Sachs.

We’ll grant Trump one thing. It’s true that a lot of Sanders supporters are disappointed by the outcome of this race and there are probably some who will simply sit this election out or vote third party. But polls show that a large number of the Vermont senator’s supporters are rallying behind Clinton. Even the most unsatisfied among them unlikely to jump ship to Trump’s bigoted campaign.

As we’ve shown, the GOP nominee spent a lot of time tweeting attacks on Sanders, but the Sanders campaign’s single response proves that quality truly does trump quantity. I
