Charles Krauthammer, Fox News contributor and Pulitzer Prize winning columnist for The Washington Post has had enough of Donald Trump’s vague promises. On Thursday night’s edition of Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” Krauthammer called out Trump for his lack of solid policy. As reported on MediaMatters.org, Krauthammer also called out Bill O’Reilly for supporting Trump by spinning his vague promises into something more palatable.
Charles Krauthammer frequently appears on Fox News as a political commentator and analyst. At this point, Krauthammer seems to think that Donald Trump hasn’t provided anything tangible to analyze. In the light of the horrific attacks in Nice, France on Thursday night during a Bastille Day celebration, pundits are rightfully questioning Donald Trump’s ability to deal with terrorism. And the fact that he has never announced a cohesive strategy is starting to concern even the most conservative.
The columnist told O’Reilly that President Obama doesn’t seem to take the threat of terrorism seriously enough. Krauthammer thinks that terrorism is a real threat to the Western world and the United States and that President Obama is wrong in how he’s analyzed the situation in the Middle East.
O’Reilly stated that it should be an important election issue this coming November, considering that the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, was President Obama’s Secretary of State. The Fox host thinks most Americans would agree that the U.S. has not handled the threat of ISIS appropriately, and that Trump will address this in his campaign:
‘Trump is going to say, “I’m going to stomp them into the ground. I’m going to get the war declaration. I’m going to do this I’m going to do that.” Short on specifics to be fair…
‘He’s going to point to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and say,
“These people can’t protect you.”‘
Charles Krauthammer, indignant, jumped right into the fray:
‘Short on specifics? That is entirely empty!’
But O’Reilly persisted, asking Krauthammer if he thought that a strong stance from Donald Trump would be enough to put him in the White House. Krauthammer replied:
‘I think if you are naïve and a guy says, “I’m going to be strong, I’m going to be smart,” but he doesn’t say a word about what he is going to do and how he is going to do it … he may have an idea of what he is going to do, but he has never told us.
‘In other words, he’s got no specifics … You’re going to make a declaration of war and that’s going to end the ISIS threat?’
Even staunch Trump supporter Bill O’Reilly gave up:
‘I don’t know what he’s going to do.’
Many suspect that Donald Trump doesn’t know what he’s going to do, either.
