After humiliating herself with the ludicrous claim that President Barack Obama was responsible for the death of a soldier four years prior to his taking office, Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson has been held under the microscope of public opinion and found very wanting indeed.
So, if Donald Trump hasn’t offended and alienated every demographic, it seems clear that his surrogates are willing to tick all the boxes to ensure that every American is completely disgusted with the idea of him moving into the White House.
Perhaps the #KatrinaPiersonHistory hashtag inspired someone to look into Pierson’s own history. It was revealed that Pierson likes to have a bit of fun on Twitter by posting offensive statements about LGBT people, calling them “not normal” and “aberrations.” This revelation appeared in The Huffington Post.
In 2012, Pierson got into a Twitter battle with equal LGBT rights activist Michael Diviesti, @michael_atx, and Pierson decide to troll him for her own amusement. This is what Pierson does for “fun.”
@michael_atx I fight against the 'choice' vs. born that way.I studied the science being genetic, or hormonal. Either way, it's an abberation
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 1, 2012
Here, Diviesti calls Pierson out on her hypocrisy, as Pierson is a single parent to a son as the result of a three-month-long marriage.
Trump has claimed to be an ally in the past, promising in his nomination speech at the Republican National Convention that he would protect LGBT Americans from violence and oppression. In his acceptance speech, Trump said:
‘As your President, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBT citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology.’
When asked by The Huffington Post how she will be able to reconcile Trump’s stated position with her own dismissive and insulting tweets, Pierson said it was “a long reach” to her tweets from four years ago.
Pierson responded by email and wrote:
‘What does 2012 have to do with the 2016 presidential campaign? You’ll also find that as a grassroots volunteer for multiple campaigns, it’s quite common that Twitter is a platform to promote/defend the policies and values of the candidates at the time.’
‘Many times, it’s about engaging trolls, which can lead to humorous and sarcastic banter. I’m sure you’ll also find that the positions/values of the candidates are not necessarily a sole reflection of the individual promoting or supporting said candidate.’
‘Therefore, there is nothing to square. I support Mr. Trump and his policies 100 percent.’
Basically, Pierson says whatever makes her boss happy, regardless of her actual position. And apparently, she thinks trolling people and calling them “aberrations” is “humorous.” Sounds like she might be the perfect mouthpiece for Donald Trump, after all.
Pierson is a Tea Party activist and 2014 contender for the Republican primary for Texas’ 32nd district congressional seat. She was endorsed by Sarah Palin and went on to lose the primary to the incumbent in a humiliating landslide. The 40-year old Garland, Texas resident has been serving as a national spokeswoman for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign since last November.
