Donald Trump simply doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to serving as president of the United States, and outgoing President Obama is not about to let him get away with it.
This past week, Obama ripped Trump’s absolute impotency in the matters of serious global impact which confront the President of the United States on a daily basis.
Obama also addressed Trump’s lack of respect for the basic decency required of the President of the United States. In the past days, Trump has spent long, drawn out sessions trying to rail into the parents of fallen US soldier Capt. Humayun Khan.
Trump took issue with the Khan family because of their harsh criticism of Trump’s temperament, which many opposing the candidate have also taken issue with. The Khans are among many to have claimed that Trump’s mental state has no place at the helm of the United States.
Trump didn’t even try to make some kind of roundabout answer to the Khans, one which maintained a level of respect for the Gold Star family. Rather, the presidential candidate and Commander in Chief wannabe attacked the family’s honor, criticizing their mannerisms and claiming they were set up.
This sickening show of disrespect for fallen US Servicemen comes at the end of a long list of similar offenses. Trump also, for example, criticized American military veteran and US Senator John McCain, saying he “preferred heroes who weren’t captured.”
McCain is widely respected for having become a Prisoner of War some decades ago while serving overseas. Trump, however, wasn’t impressed.
President Obama made his latest criticism of Trump while speaking at a press conference with the Prime Minister of Singapore.
Obama was straight to the point.
‘I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president. I said so last week. He keeps on proving it.’
Obama went on to discuss why he continues to feel that this is the case, including a reference to the Khan family.
Obama went on:
‘The notion that [Trump] would attack a Gold Star family, that [General] Hayden — had made such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of our country, the fact that he does not appear to have basic knowledge around critical issues in Europe, the Middle East, in Asia. It means that he is woefully unprepared. This is not just my opinion.’
Obama concluded by calling on the Republican Party to drop Trump as their presidential candidate, noting how often leading Republicans could be found trying to make up for something Trump said.
Curiously, Trump recently remarked that he would drop put of the presidential race should his “poll numbers drop”- which is exactly what his numbers are doing.
