The Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, North Carolina, is on lockdown after shots were fired.
There are no reports as to the immediate circumstances of the shooting beyond that a suspect has not yet been apprehended.
There is no word as to the status of any potential victims, and there is no word as to whether or not police or any other member of the authorities have any suspicion as to the motive or background of the gunman.
The shooting could be terrorism; it could be criminal, related to a robbery- there is not yet any indication of why this shooting happened.
Notably, North Carolina has born the weight of serious tension in the aftermath of the state government’s passage of anti- LGBT legislation, keeping transgender persons out of the public bathroom corresponding to their appropriate gender, forcing them into the one corresponding with their biological sex.
Although in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, terrified shoppers were able to flee the building, the mall has since been closed to any and all entrances or exits by police.
Police arrived at the scene at about 2:45 PM, local time.
Below you can watch a cellphone video clip of some of the panic ensuing after the shots were fired.

Although the caption of the video states that “someone just got shot,” there is, again, no word yet as to the status or identity of any victims.
Police are still working to secure the Crabtree Valley Mall, and this story is rapidly developing.
