On Monday, Senator Harry Reid lashed out at Donald Trump, demanding the Republican nominee take the U.S. naturalization test since he now intends to propose more obstacles for immigrants hoping to come to the United States. The U.S naturalization test currently includes questions about the country’s history, founding laws, and Constitution.
During a foreign policy speech in Ohio on Monday, Trump proposed that the new test to admit immigrants into the country should include questions about religious freedom, gender equality, and gay rights. According to Trump’s policy advisor, Stephen Miller, Trump also plans to temporarily suspend visa issuances to geographic regions with a history of exporting terrorism and where adequate vetting cannot occur.
In a press release, Reid responded to Trump’s proposed immigration policy.
‘Since Donald Trump wants to impose new tests on immigrants, he should take the one test every immigrant has to pass to become a United States citizen. He would almost certainly fail, given his general ignorance and weak grasp of basic facts about American history, principles and functioning of our government,’
The outspoken Senate Democratic Leader added that “Donald Trump is nothing more than a spoiled, unpatriotic drain on society who has earned nothing and helped no one.”
Reid stated that, unlike immigrants, Trump represents none of the American values. Immigrants sacrifice everything to come to America while Trump continues exploit diligent citizens.
‘Immigrants work hard to get here and become Americans, while Trump inherited everything from his father and works hardest at Tweeting insults and ripping off hard-working people with two-bit scams.’
The Nevada Democrat spoke about many recent Trump controversies, including a back-and-forth rhetorical battle with Ghazala and Khizr Khan, whose son was killed while serving in Iraq, as well as Trump urging Russia to commit cyberespionage against Hillary Clinton.
Reid has repeatedly disparaged Trump throughout the entire election process and added that Trump “plays footsie with Putin and invites the Russian government to launch cyberattacks against our country.”
Although Trump claimed he was being sarcastic about asking Russia to invade private emails, he’s serious about his new foreign policy proposals, which include a ban on Muslims entering the United States.
