Despite the fact that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani spent years trying to build and extend a career around the attacks of September 11, he seems to have suddenly forgotten all about them.
In a humiliating front page story, calling it Giuliani’s most pathetic politicizing of 9/11 yet, The New York Daily News called out the former mayor for seemingly forgetting about the terror attacks on Monday.
The former mayor has been stumping for Donald Trump in recent weeks in order to bolster the Orange One’s message. Since Donald Trump seems incapable of going more than a few days without misspeaking or alienating some large group of potential voters, the Republican Party has been cultivating more experienced speakers in order to boost their nominee’s chances at winning the election. Unfortunately, Giuliani probably wasn’t the best choice, since he seems to be as bad at recent history and world events as Trump is.
During a speech on Monday, Giuliani seemed to forget that the September 11 attacks happened during George W. Bush’s presidency. He told the Youngstown, Ohio audience:
‘Under those eight years, before Obama came along, we didn’t have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attack inside the United States. They all started when Clinton and Obama got into office.’
Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York City during the September 11 attacks, so it’s rather unclear why he is incorrectly remembering when the event happened. President Bill Clinton had been out of office for nearly nine months, and President Barack Obama was not sworn into office until eight years later.

Seemingly forgetting the September 11 attacks seems very odd for someone who attempted to launch his own presidential bid based on the very same event. It is also very odd that Giuliani praised Mike Pence, the vice presidential candidate, in the very same speech, for his assistance in creating and passing the Patriot Act, a legal measure that was a direct result of the attacks.
Giuliani said of Pence:
‘He was a member of the Foreign Affairs and Judiciary committees during the time of September 11, when we went through the worst foreign attack in our history, since the War of 1812.’
It seems that Giuliani has forgotten about Pearl Harbor, as well.
The New York Daily News went on to say that Giuliani had suffered a head injury earlier this month, and noted that the former mayor and unsuccessful Republican presidential candidate had also forgotten which state Pence served as governor.
