Donald Trump has built his campaign on the tired rhetoric that the United States is in shambles and that crime has reached record high levels. His idea is to suggest that the country is in a downward spiral, one where the only solution is to elect him as president to become our savior.
After announcing his “plan” to win over 95 percent of the African-American vote recently, Trump has taken to Twitter in yet another effort to win over African-American voters.
This time, The Donald’s using supposed rising crime rates within inner-city neighborhoods to incite fear, and then presenting himself as the only solution to the problem.
Inner-city crime is reaching record levels. African-Americans will vote for Trump because they know I will stop the slaughter going on!

The problem is, however, that his fear-mongering tactic is based completely on a lie.
PolitiFact found out inner-city crime is “not even close” to record-level high, proving once again that Trump continues to spew misinformation, with no factual relevance whatsoever.
According to PolitiFact:
‘The frequency of violent crime has declined since the early-to-mid 1990s.’
What’s even worse is that there’s no actual category that measures “inner-city” crime. PolitiFact merely looked at the crime rate in large cities — proving yet again that The Donald has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about. Honestly, shouldn’t a multi-billionaire be able to hire people to fact-check these kinds of things?
According to PolitiFact‘s ruling:
‘The homicide rate and the violent crime rate has fallen to such an extent over the past quarter century — both in big cities and in the country at large — that it would take many years of significant increases to return to the “record levels” of the early 1990s.’
So there you have it. Trump really doesn’t have much of a clue about anything he says. And this is the guy who’s the official Republican presidential nominee. Let’s just let that sink in for a minute, shall we?
