That’s quite an achievement given the bilious rage, rapey death threats, and rampant bigotry the spews forth on Twitter every minute with no consequences whatsoever. But guess what? Milo Yiannopolous isn’t one bit sorry. On Thursday the gay, conservative Breitbart editor joined Nightline‘s Terry Moran, for an interview. In the introductory segment, Moran declared:
‘Milo Yiannopoulos represents the tip of the iceberg in a rising tide of hate and abuse in social media, one he clearly sees as a noble purpose.’
And sure enough, when asked about his racist, sexist attacks on Leslie Jones, the outrageous Breitbart editor explained:
‘Trolling is very important. I like to think of myself as a virtuous troll, you know? I’m doing God’s work.’
God’s work? Unleashing legions of trolls to attack Leslie Jones on Twitter with racist and sexist comments? Inciting misogynist bigots to hack her website with naked pictures and images comparing her to an ape? And all because you disagree with her politics and think the Ghostbusters reboot should have given male leads top billing?
But Milo Yiannopoulos doubles down on his vileness and explains:
‘I like to think of myself as a virtuous troll. Of course, I do say things in a way that is going to elicit a response from people.’
But Terry Moran’s not having any of that.
‘You called her a dude. If Leslie Jones were right here, would you say, you look like a dude?’
But Milo Yiannopoulos believes in Freedom and doesn’t see himself as responsible for stirring up that writhing hornet’s nest of hate. Instead, he whines,”why should I have to police other people’s speech?” He then pretends he wasn’t totally on board with what his followers had done.
‘I’m perfectly happy to tell you I think that stuff is disgusting.’
A disgusted Terry Moran declared, “well you’re an idiot, then.” He then called him out on his BS and his callow body shaming.
‘You’re going to go after somebody’s body to denigrate their ideas? What grade are you in? Seriously. Are you a 13-year-old boy?’
When Milo Yiannopoulos defiantly agrees that he would, an outraged Terry Moran snaps,
‘Because somebody doesn’t have a weight that you think is proper? That’s revolting.’
Undeterred, the Trollish One doubled down and declared that what he finds revolting is women he doesn’t find attractive having the nerve to feel good about themselves.
‘What’s revolting is the body-positivity movement. What’s revolting is this idea now that you can tell women they’ll be happy and healthy at any size. Why? Because it tells women that you can be fat and you can be unattractive and you can be happy anyway. That’s a lie.’
