Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, claims his organization has significant documents that could be damaging to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. In an interview with Fox News Tuesday, Assange says he has several “batches” of information that he plans to start releasing as early as next week.
Although no specifics were given about the information that will be leaked, Assange assures viewers that the information to be released on the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign will have a major impact on the upcoming election.
The WikiLeaks leader, a known critic of the former secretary of state, claimed that the documents will indeed prove that Hillary lied to the FBI during her 3-hour interview with them. During his interview with Fox News, he tells Sean Hannity:
‘Hillary Clinton says she can’t remember what a ‘C’ in brackets stands for, everyone in positions of government and at WikiLeaks knows it stands for ‘classified confidential.”
Calling Hillary a liar, Assange says her excuses are absurd. He then holds up an already released document, in which Clinton allegedly marked as classified herself, and signed off on.
‘In fact, we have already released thousands of cables by Hillary Clinton…thousands of examples where she herself has used the ‘C’ in brackets and signed it off, So it’s absolutely incredible for Clinton to lie.
‘She is lying about not knowing what that is. But it’s a bit disturbing that, FBI Director, James Comey goes along with that game.’
Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state from 2009-2013, claimed that she was not able to recall certain emails, nor details on how to handle classified information. She claimed that she relied on the judgement of other officials, as well as her aides, to handle those documents appropriately.
At the time of Assange’s interview, the U.S. Justice Department had not yet announced that officials would not prosecute Clinton over her use of a private email server for classified material. It’s quite unclear, however, whether Assange was referring to the DNC materials, the State Department emails that were already published, or other materials that are associated with Clinton.
