At a Women for Hillary rally in Carlisle, Pennsylvania today, Chelsea Clinton called out Donald Trump for recent comments he made about Hillary Clinton, saying she didn’t have a “presidential look.”
‘[I hope] that everyone can see that as the sad, misogynistic, sexist rhetoric that I hoped we had moved beyond in the 21st century, certainly in 2016.’
Trump never specified what it was about Hillary Clinton’s “look” that makes her seem not presidential, just qualified that it was her look, in general.
‘I just don’t think she has a presidential look. And you need a presidential look.’
Donald Trump has recently been on the attack about Hillary Clinton’s health and “stamina,” causing many to insist that his words are coded as both sexist and ageist. Meanwhile, Trump has released only a fake medical letter from a suspicious physician and is older than Clinton by a year.
Trump has been called to task before for making clearly sexist remarks about his political opponent, saying that Hillary Clinton was only winning in her party’s primaries because she “plays the woman card,” and deleting tweets that step beyond of the boundaries of a political jibe into personal, misogynistic attacks.
Trump also attacked his Republican primary opponent, Carly Fiorina, on her looks during an interview with Rolling Stone.
‘Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?! I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?’
Trump’s remarks beg the question: does he own a mirror?
Today was the first appearance by Chelsea Clinton on the campaign trail since the Democratic National Convention in July, and the former First Daughter came out swinging at Donald Trump for criticism of her mother’s “look” as well as his lack of substance and knowledge on critical issues facing American citizens.
Chelsea Clinton discussed the economy, healthcare, and national security as issues Trump seems to actually say very little about in terms of written policies.
‘Look at what the different candidates have actually said. I think my mom is really the only candidate to have a proposal on all of those issues.’
