Brad Pitt is trying to understand why anyone in their right mind would want someone like GOP nominee, Donald Trump, to be the President of the United States.
Looking better than ever in an interview for New York Times’ T Magazine, Brad opened up about his feelings on Donald Trump and his campaign for the presidency. First, though, Pitt discussed his thoughts on the British exit from the European Union, saying in part:
‘Man, I never thought that (Brexit) would happen. Same way I can’t bring myself to think that Trump will be in charge,’ he said. ‘In the simplest terms, what brings us together is good, and what separates us is bad.’
The 52-year-old Oscar winner went on to explain that he is from Oklahoma, a Republican-leaning state, so he tries to empathize with people and comprehend why someone would want to vote for such an atrocious man. He then offered his insight as to why he believes people support Trump:
‘You gotta understand that it’s also in our DNA. Most Americans don’t have time to watch CNN and Fox and Al Jazeera. They’re trying to make the rent, get the kids fed, they’re tired when they get home and they want to forget about everything. And so suddenly when this voice comes in—and it doesn’t have to be a voice of substance—saying he’s fed up with all of this, that’s the part that hooks into the DNA.’
Although Brad said that he sees a little hope in some areas of today’s society, he also believes that there are others in which we see a “reactionary push for isolation and separation,” with this election being one of them.
Referring to the Oscar-winning film that he produced last year about the global financial crisis of 2008, The Big Short, Brad quoted a line:
‘When things are going wrong and we can’t find the reason for it, we just start creating enemies.’
Which is exactly what will happen Trump takes office. Yes, be very afraid. Pitt then asks a question that I’m sure many people are also wondering:
‘What does he even mean, take our country back? Would someone please explain that to me? Where’d it go?;
One thing is certain, Brad Pitt will definitely not be voting for Donald Trump this election.
