Donald Trump and his supporters are outraged over remarks made by Hillary Clinton Friday night. These statements were made as she was speaking at an LGBT fundraiser in New York. Below is an excerpt from that speech:
‘To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it.
‘And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.’
The only real problem with Hillary’s statement is that her numbers are simply far too low. It’s safe to say that more like three-fourths of the people who support Trump would fit in that basket.
It has been very apparent in this year’s election that Trump and his followers are indeed deplorable. He has some of the most foul-thinking, gutter-mouthed people attending his rallies. One example is when Trump’s campaign first launched in June of 2015. He commented about Mexican heritage saying:
‘When Mexico sends it’s people, they’re not sending their best… They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.’
Or, how about that time in August of 2015, when a Trump supporter beat a homeless Hispanic man for, apparently, no reason. The attacker said that he was encouraged by Trump’s rhetoric about people who are in this country illegally. The attacker agreed with Trump that illegals should be deported. When told of the crime, which left the victim soaked in his own urine, Trump said this:
‘It would be a shame,’
he said, adding:
‘I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.’
Need even more proof? The video below shows the extremes Trump followers are willing to go to at his rallies. Supporters in the video can be heard yelling racial slurs, derogatory remarks against women and minorities, and even go as far as calling President Obama a n***er.
