After a brief trip to Flint, Michigan, Donald Trump made a bad joke about the city’s water crisis to a crowd in Canton, Ohio. The group was primarily white, and they thought his joke was hilarious.

Pastor Faith Green Timmons invited Trump to speak at her African-American Bethel United Methodist Church about the water crisis in Flint, a primarily black city. General Motors abandoned the city and left it to decay. Then the state pumped toxic water through the pipes.

Unfortunately, the GOP candidate criticized the local elected officials for the toxic water, because he didn’t seem to know that Gov. Rick Snyder has usurped the city officials’ power. The Republican governor put his own people into place, and he has admitted that state regulators were to blame for the tragic, two-year crisis.

But when the Republican presidential candidate started on his traditional anti-Hillary Clinton schtick, Timmons interrupted him, according to the LA Times:

‘Mr. Trump, I invited you here to thank us for what we’ve done in Flint, not give a political speech.’

Trump, who is not used to being corrected, said this before making a quick exit:

“OK, that’s good. Then I’m going to Flint.”

Trump appeared to have a short-term memory loss when he described what happened in the church. He said on Fox & Friends on Thursday:

‘I got unbelievably good treatment from people. But something was up. I noticed she was so nervous when she [Timmons] introduced me.’

‘She was so nervous she was shaking. She had that in mind. there’s no question about it.’

Ford announced Wednesday that it was exporting all of its “small-car production” to Mexico. The timing was perfect for the GOP candidate’s trip through Rust Belt towns. One of those towns he visited after Flint was Canton, Ohio.

Trump couldn’t resist making a joke at Flint’s expense:

‘It used to be cars were made in Flint, and you couldn’t drink the water in Mexico.’

‘Now, the cars are made in Mexico, and you can’t drink the water in Flint. I hate to say it, but it’s true. I can say it to you folks.’

Trump fantasized calling the CEO of Ford from the White House:

‘If you think you’re going to make cars and you’re … going to sell them through our border like we’re stupid people — not going to happen that way.’

The crowd loved it. The billionaire continued:

‘We’re going to charge you a 35 percent tax on every car that’s made outside the United States.’
