The suspect is Ahmad Khan Rahami, who is wanted in connection with injuring 29 people with to homemade bombs in Chelsea, New York and in Seaside Park, New Jersey. Rahami is a U.S. citizen who was born in Afghanistan. The suspect is around 5’6″, weighs around 200 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes and brown facial hair.
Five suspects have already been taken into custody. The injuries were the result of three homemade devices involving pressure cookers connected to cell phones. Police say, however, that they are still unsure if the devices are connected and whether they are all the work of one person or a group of people working together.
According to a local ABC News affiliate:
‘Law enforcement sources tell also ABC News that the explosives in both Chelsea and in New Jersey were set off by cell phones. Multiple law enforcement officials tell ABC News that investigators are exploring the possibility the two explosions in Chelsea and Seaside Park are linked to the same bomber or bombers by what appear to be similar types of cell phones. ABC News is cautioned that this is only a line of inquiry and not a conclusion. The probes remain separate but coordinated.’
