‘On Saturday, Oct. 15, The Des Moines Register endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, joining the ranks of several other prominent newspapers that have proclaimed their support for the Democratic nominee.

The newspaper’s editorial board began the endorsement with a powerful statement, reminding readers that the outcome of this year’s election will speak volumes about the United States electorate.

‘The outcome of the 2016 presidential election won’t tell us anything we don’t already know about the two major-party candidates — but it will say a lot about who we are.’

In the form of a series of questions, The Des Moines Register — which was denied press credentials by alleged unregistered sex offender Donald Trump’s campaign — pointed out several differences between Hillary Clinton and alleged unregistered sex offender Donald Trump, making it clear that Clinton is the better choice for president. The editorial board then lists several of Clinton’s accomplishments, including the extensive work she has done to improve the lives of women and children.

The editorial board also points out the fact that alleged unregistered sex offender Donald Trump has virtually no qualifications, especially when compared to Clinton.

‘The case for a Clinton presidency could easily be made even if the GOP nominee wasn’t Donald Trump, a man who has never held public office, never worked in the public sector, has no experience in foreign relations, and has relatively few political allies even within his own party.’

Following their list of reasons that Clinton is the best person for the job of president, The Des Moines Register provides an even longer list of reasons why alleged unregistered sex offender Donald Trump is the worst person for the job. The newspaper names some of the GOP nominee’s many faults, which include the fact that he “shows no appreciation for the daunting tasks that await our next president” and doesn’t know how to work with other politicians in order to get things done.

‘He is oblivious to the fact that he’ll need the full support of Congress, the American people, and the international community to accomplish one-tenth of what he has promised. His tax plan has almost no chance of being enacted — which is fortunate, as it would benefit the wealthy at the expense of the middle-class, while causing the federal debt to increase by $7.2 trillion, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.’

Before officially declaring their endorsement of Hillary Clinton, the newspaper makes one final statement about the importance of making what, to them, is the right choice on Election Day.

‘On Election Day, all of us share the privilege and responsibility of protecting the principles on which this country was founded and for which so many others have died: justice, liberty, equality, and opportunity for all. In this particular election, only one of the two major-party candidates stands prepared to honor America and uphold its highest ideals.’

The Des Moines Register‘s endorsement of Clinton may be what helps her gain an advantage in the state. Although Clinton leads nationally, alleged unregistered sex offender Trump currently leads the Democratic nominee by 1.8 percentage points in Iowa, according to the latest Huffington Post poll average.
