The dystopian horror continues as Donald Trump has now admitted he is willing to use assassination against leaders who rub him the wrong way. The lucky candidate? North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. According to an article in The Inquisitr, his attitude towards the possibility of targeting a world leader is upsettingly blasé.
“Well, you know, I’ve heard of worse things, frankly,” Trump said. “I mean this guy’s a bad dude – and don’t underestimate him… Any young guy that can take over from his father with all those generals and everybody else that probably wants the position, this is not somebody to be underestimated.”
Love that strategy Mr. Trump. Only one problem. Assassination is illegal in the U.S.. In 1976, Gerry Ford banned it with an executive order. In 1978, Jimmy Carter banned direct U.S. involvement in assassination, although that ban was slightly relaxed as a result of the war on terror.
But wait! The Donald has a solution. Just make China do it.
I would get China to make that guy [Kim Jong Un] disappear in one form or another very quickly. China has control, absolute control of North Korea. They don’t say it, but they do, and they should make that problem disappear… China is sucking us dry. They’re taking our money, they’re taking our jobs and doing so much. We have rebuilt China with what they’ve taken out. We have power over China. China should do that.
The interviews with this guy about how he’s gonna solve problems always sound like it’s a 10 year old speaking, except usually 10 year olds are more compassionate. And while it’s not hard to understand why Trump is popular with a certain kind of person in this country, it is frightening that he’s gotten as far as he has. It’s obvious that there is a large contingent of people in the U.S. who live very deeply in their fears and operate from a very primal place. Where the illusion of strength is more important than good ideas and the myth of the “other” has firmly taken root. This election cycle is looking like a massive fork in the road for our country, and the best track is as simple as getting people out to the polls.
