Newt Gingrich recently accused Megyn Kelly of being “fascinated with sex.” On a CNN panel Anderson Cooper took the opportunity to call out Newt Gingrich, given the man’s personal history.
On Wednesday, during a panel type discussion on the CNN program Anderson Cooper 360°, host and CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper immediately pointed out contradiction that life-long politician and all around creep, Newt Gingrich, would accuse a journalist discussing sexual assault of being “fascinated with sex.”
The segment starts off by playing a video clip of the very interview where Newt Gingrich made his ridiculous assertion. Gingrich attacked Fox News anchor and TV host Megyn Kelly of being a pervert for bringing up Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s many allegations of sexual assault and after the clip Cooper jumped right in, asking the panelists what their thoughts were.
Just to remind you, the GOP nominee actually has a court case in December, just after the presidential election, in the case of a woman alleging that Donald Trump raped her when she was 13 and that’s only one of several women accusing him of being a sexual predator.
The first to speak was contributor Amanda Carpenter, who brought up Trump’s feuding with Kelly in the past, she also said that Newt’s comments are:
‘Another example of unique ability that I think Trump has in bringing out the worst in people.’
Next up host Anderson Cooper turned to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump supporter Scottie Nell Hughes. Anderson Cooper took the opportunity to say what many people were already thinking:
‘For Newt Gingrich to accuse Megyn Kelly of being fascinated by sex. This is a guy, who’s what, on his third marriage, cheated on his first two wives and was having an affair when he was impeaching Bill Clinton. Isn’t that right?’
Hughes insisted that the comment Newt Gingrich made was not the point, and went on to magically decode what he was saying, because it was apparently nothing like what he actually said. So now all Republicans, it seems, are borrowing a page from Trump’s book as far as making inflammatory comments and then walking them back and explaining them away as “meaning” something entirely different.
