How much would you pay for a half-hour coffee date with Ivanka Trump? The latest bid for a St Jude Children’s Hospital fundraiser through her brother Eric’s foundation came in at a whopping $72,888…And then the page got taken down.

Luckily for us, Google saves cached copies of pages on the Internet, even after they get taken down. “Enjoy Coffee with Ivanka Trump in NYC or DC,” the entry on CharityBuzz offers. The page describes her as the “Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization and President/CEO of the Ivanka Trump Brand, Ivanka Trump.”

Surprisingly, the bidding page lists the estimated value of a coffee date with Ivanka Trump at a paltry $50,000, which means…This ill-advised auction must have begun before the president-elect’s transition team assigned her the office normally occupied by the First Lady.

As The Bipartisan Report noted on Wednesday

‘Ivanka Trump’s formal title still has not been announced. Still, having her play the role of First Lady would makes sense. Melania Trump recently announced that she and first son Barron Trump plan to stay in New York so he can stay at his current school. And then there’s this: Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he’ll be handing over his businesses to his sons…With Ivanka Trump’s name conspicuously absent.’

Among the bidders, The New York Times reports, was Ozan Ozkural, an investment manager from London. He explained that he bid nearly $60,000 in hope of learning more about Donald Trump’s future dealings with Turkey.

‘The nature of my business, we talk to a lot of different governments, a lot of politicians and lawmakers across the world. You end up getting a better sense of what the modus operandi will be.’

That’s right: Turkey, where Mother Jones reports Donald Trump has a major conflict-of-interest. They reminded us of that long-ago interview with Stephen Bannon, then chairman of Breitbart “News,” in which the president-elect admitted:

‘I have a little conflict of interest ’cause I have a major, major building in Istanbul. It’s a tremendously successful job. It’s called Trump Towers—two towers, instead of one, not the usual one, it’s two.’

Due to the high amount of the bid, the CharityBuzz page warns that all bidders will need “additional authorization” for their credit cards.

‘Please note that to participate in this auction, additional credit card authorization will be required for all bidders. When you submit your bid, Charitybuzz will authorize the primary credit card on file. If your card does not successfully authorize, you will not be able to participate in this auction unless you contact the Charitybuzz concierge team and arrange an alternate method of payment. Verification may take up to 2 business days. Please contact [email protected] or 212-243-3900 if you have any questions.’

The fine print at the bottom of the page lists rather stringent conditions for the meeting, as follows.

  • “To take place at Trump Tower in NYC or Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. – dependent on Ivanka’s schedule.”
  • “Valid for 2 people.”
  • “Approximate duration: 30-45 min.”

  • “The winner may take a photo.”
