JUST IN: Chrysler Motor Has Responded To Trump’s Absurd Tweet About Their New Deal

There’s reality, and then there’s Donald Trump’s reality. Lately, it’s felt a lot like America has become some sort of alternate universe, not altogether different from something out of a Sci-Fi movie.

On Sunday, Fiat Chrysler announced that it plans to spend $1 billion in expansion efforts in the states of Michigan and Ohio, where 2,000 more jobs are expected to be created.

According to the president-elect, however, the company’s latest job expansion efforts are a result of his presidential victory.

On Monday morning, Trump took to his favorite social media platform to inform the world of the company’s next move, tweeting:

‘It’s finally happening – Fiat Chrysler just announced plans to invest $1BILLION in Michigan and Ohio plants, adding 2000 jobs. This after…’

‘Ford said last week that it will expand in Michigan and U.S. instead of building a BILLION dollar plant in Mexico. Thank you Ford & Fiat C!’

His thanks to the company makes it seem as though he had something to do with the expansion, which Fiat Chrysler wants to assure Americans that is not at all the case.

Jodi Tinson, a spokeswoman for FCA told ThinkProgress:

‘This plan was in the works back in 2015. This announcement… was just final confirmation.’

ThinkProgress asked Tinson directly if they understood that the presidential election and Trump’s so-called “victory” had no influence on the expansion efforts, to which she informed them they were “correct.”

Last year, FCA US announced that a shift in demand from cars to SUVs and trucks, and that the company would commit to producing “more pickups and Jeeps by end of 2017 to match shift in demand.”

FCA US has already invested over $9.6 billion in U.S. facilities, creating over 25,000 jobs in the United States since 2009 — all of which had absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump.

What’s hilarious, however, is that this isn’t the first time Trump has taken credit for creating jobs in the U.S. that he had absolutely no part of.

Last week, Ford announced that it would invest $700 million in a Michigan plant, creating 700 jobs. Once again Trump tweeted out, thanking the company for their efforts, claiming their expansion efforts are “just the beginning.”

‘Thank you to Ford for scrapping a new plant in Mexico and creating 700 new jobs in the U.S. This is just the beginning – much more to follow.’

The amount of sheer delusion that fills Donald Trump’s brain is astounding, and honestly, quite a terrifying quality for a president to have.
