Bruce Springsteen is at it again.
The world renowned rocker has again taken to blasting the actions of Donald Trump, who this time has imposed a ban on Muslims from certain countries and Syrian refugees from entering the country.
This ban has wrought ugliness and fear around the world, as untold numbers of perfectly harmless people from Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East have suddenly found themselves facing the possibility of being stuck in their lethally volatile homeland. In many cases, if these people made it to the United States at any time in recent days, then they were taken into police custody at the airport at which they arrived.
On that note, while performing in Adelaide, Australia, Springsteen said this:
‘Tonight, we want to add our voices to the thousands of Americans who are protesting at airports around our country the Muslim ban and the detention of foreign nationals and refugees. America is a nation of immigrants and we find this anti-democratic and fundamentally un-American.’
He then launched into a performance of “American Land,” predicating it by saying, “This is an immigrant’s song.”
Springsteen has done this kind of thing before. Other instances of the rock icon voicing his disgust with Trump include one this past September when, at the behest of a fan, he read “F*ck Trump” off the back of a pocket Constitution. It was pretty epic stuff.
Trump supporters have long expressed discontent every time that a famous face joins the chorus of those perpetually working to drown out their leader, His Highness Drumpf, and his fascist agenda.
Of course, Trump himself is a famous face, he built up the career that gave him the opportunity to take a shot at the White House by being a famous face, and he’s never disowned — in fact, he still proudly parades — the fact that he is a famous face. He built up his personal brand via plastering his name in huge gold letters on buildings around the world, and via appearing on reality television for many years.
Yet, people who voted for him want to criticize other, more widely known celebrities for making their voices heard?
Anyway, watch the video of Springsteen’s latest mid-concert anti-Trump rant below. Other musicians to speak out against Trump include figures such as the iconic punk group Green Day, who belted out a chant of “No Trump, No KKK, No Facsist USA!” right in the middle of their performance at the 2016 American Music Awards.
