What could possibly brighten the lives of Americans in Trumpland more than someone mocking the present administration?

Saturday Night Live (SNL) has served as that much needed comedic relief and while one might have thought that it couldn’t possibly get better, this new announcement proves it’s about to.

Recently SNL took the leap and integrated an evil, skeletal Stephen K. Bannon into the skit to egg Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump on as he made phone calls with world leaders.

Instead of having a skeletal Steve Bannon on the show, Rosie O’Donnell has offered to step up to the plate and play him. Rosie has been a stark anti-Trump advocate, donating to causes seeking to nullify the 2016 election and by publically calling out all of his horrendous, discriminatory and/or moronic missteps.

For better or for worse she also was intimately involved in perpetuating speculation around Barron Trump during Donald Trump’s campaign. As you likely recall, a YouTube video emerged highlighting some mannerisms of Barron’s which was thought to suggest he had autism. O’Donnell provided the foundation for that story and video to circulate essentially, as she was the first and one of the only celebrities to share it.

In defense of that action, she claims that she didn’t believe it was “picking on” Barron, but seeking to urge the Donald to acknowledge it publically, if he was, to use it as an advocacy platform. She issued an informal apology directly to Melania Trump as well, on Twitter. She wrote:

‘i apologize to @MELANIATRUMP  – i was insensitive on my RT – i am sorry for the pain i caused – it was not my intent – i am truly sorry’

It seems that even if Melania didn’t accept the apology, the American people have, as many are already loving the idea of having Rosie on SNL. Rosie, for her part has confirmed she is so down:

‘Available – if called I will serve!!!’

‘@calbininsf – i am here to serve – alec [baldwin] has trump – melissa [mccarthy] has [sean] spice[r] – i would need a few days to prepare – so if called – i will be ready.’

It would seem only natural that at this point in her career, this is the kind of thing she would take on, outside of course of her political motivations for involvement. O’Donnell has been a part of the television universe in various capacities for many years and has a long-standing history with comedy.

Saturday Night Live has yet to respond to the speculations, but we know they must be loving the additional attention paid to the show. If Rosie O’Donnell as Steve Bannon would excite people on SNL the way the prospect has seemed to on Twitter, it is very likely we’ll be seeing her on the show very soon.
