Donald Trump’s most prized phrase since being in the spotlight is now being taken up by his surrogates on cable news. Responding by saying “fake news” is Trump’s only defense mechanism when the media releases information on him that he’d hoped would have been kept hush-hush.
Here are just a few examples of Trump’s latest fake news allegations:
‘The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People’

‘Don’t believe the main stream (fake news) media. The White House is running VERY WELL. I inherited a MESS and am in the process of fixing it.’

‘FAKE NEWS media, which makes up stories and “sources,” is far more effective than the discredited Democrats – but they are fading fast!’

Friday night Republican consultant Paris Dennard was stopped mid sentence by CNN’s Don Lemon for claiming the discussion on American costs to protect First Family was “fake news.” The money spent on protecting the First Family during all of their business trips is ridiculous and very real.
Lemon was not having any of it, however. Irritated, he said:
‘This story we are doing is not to intentionally deceive anyone. We are talking about the cost to keep a president safe. There is nothing fake about that. Stop it with the stupid talking point that it is a fake news story.’
Even after Lemon prompted Dennard to proceed with his opinion, he said:
‘Don, this is a fake news story in my opinion.’
With that being said by Dennard, Lemon was enraged and abruptly ended the show four minutes earlier than the scheduled time by looking to the crew and saying:
’Thank you very much, everyone. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend. Good night, all.’
The look on Dennard’s face after he was interrupted by Lemon is priceless. Next time, Dennard won’t be so quick to cry “fake news” in his attempt to score brownie points with the new commander-in-chief.
