There are KGB agents in the White House warns President George W. Bush’s ethics attorney Richard Painter. His biggest concern is former national security advisor to Donald Trump, Michael Flynn, but Painter is worried about the president’s entire circle being in bed with Russia.
In an interview with CNN Tonight’s Don Lemon, Painter pointed out that Flynn made nearly $500,000 from foreign agents while he was sitting in on all of Trump’s security meetings. This is dangerous. Painter said:
‘It makes no sense to run a government this way. This is a completely chaotic situation, and then Gen. Flynn lied about his contacts with the Russians, lied to the vice president, and we’ve had the attorney general in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee say he did not contact the Russians when he had contacts with the Russians.’
People tend to titter about the craziness in the White House, but Painter’s alarm brought home how frightening the situation actually is on Lemon’s show:
‘People are not being honest about their foreign contacts, and talk about this “deep state theory” as if there are somehow Obama moles in the government under the Trump administration. It’s the KGB agents running around the West Wing or the national security council.’
All the while, Trump’s transition team was openly interacting with Russian and other foreign officials.
According to the Business Insider, Democratic Representative and ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Elijah Cummings wrote a letter to VP Mike Pence on November 18th warning him about Flynn’s lobbying work for foreign dictators. That means, Pence was not the shocked innocent that he pretended to be.
‘Recent news reports have revealed that Lt. Gen. Flynn was receiving classified briefings during the presidential campaign while his consulting firm, Flynn Intel Group, Inc., was being paid to lobby the U.S. Government on behalf of a foreign government’s interests.’
Retroactively, Flynn filed the required paperwork registering himself as a foreign agent working for the Turkish government on Wednesday.
Lemon responded to Bush’s ethics attorney with surprise:
‘Wow, wow! That is a pretty strong — that’s pretty strong, Richard.’
Yes, it is.
