No ones First Amendment rights are safe from President Donald Trump and his administration.
On Twitter Wednesday morning, President Trump sought to undermine this right from yet another individual, however unlikely a candidate as they may seem to Trump’s wrath:
‘Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!’

That’s right, folks, the President of the United States of America just threw shade at Snoop Dogg, of all people.
The response comes following the release of Snoop’s new music video, in which he depicts Donald Trump as a clown and shoots a fake gun at him which upon firing displays a sign that reads “BANG.” A screengrab of this scene can be seen below:
A handful of news outlets reported on the depiction of Trump, as it was downright hilarious and Snoop’s commentary about why he chose to include him, made it even better.
As was previously reported, Snoop Dogg believed it was necessary to depict Trump in his true form, as he and many others see him, stating:
‘…Nobody’s dealing with the real issue with this f**king clown as president, and the sh*t that we dealing with out here.’
It is also funny that Donald Trump is ranting again with no evidence. President Obama was always far more graceful and willing to respect Americans’ rights to free speech than Trump and his administration have ever been, so it’s silly to say he would’ve thrown Snoop Dogg in jail for a similar depiction. Furthermore, Trump tried to claim that Snoop Dogg’s career is failing – but what does that mean for him?
If one considers their social media followings alone, Donald Trump (thanks largely to his title as the President of the U.S.) has 21.5 million likes/followers, as of the present day on Facebook. By contrast, Snoop Dogg has 36.8 million currently on his own Facebook page. Now, Donald Trump’s Twitter does have a few more followers than Snoop Dogg’s but overall, Snoop Dogg still has roughly 5.1 million followers total (from both platforms together) more than Trump.
Never have I ever had more respect for Snoop Dogg for bringing attention, albeit in his own way, to the real issues. Go run to your best buddy Kanye West, Trump, maybe he’ll know what to do, because you’ll be awfully hard pressed to get any real retribution against Snoop Dogg over this.
Lighten up, Mr. President; criticism is par for the course.
