Who thinks Oprah would be a wonderful President of these United States? Imagine the sugar-voiced media mogul up against Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. He would go low, and she would go high. Is a President Winfrey even possible?
The host of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen interviewed CNN correspondent Van Jones about the 55 days to ruin under Donald Trump. Then, a caller asked Jones who he would support for president in 2020.
Jones played his political cards well. He spoke highly about both Democratic Senators Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey. Then, he threw his support to the woman who earned her way to richest woman in America, none other than Oprah, according to Huffington Post:
‘For real. Listen, I’m telling you. I love a lot of the Democrats. I love Kamala Harris, who’s coming up in California. I love Cory Booker, who I’ve known for 20 years. This new Joe Kennedy, the third coming-up, redheaded Kennedy kid. He’s awesome. But it takes a superstar to beat a superstar. I think if Oprah Winfrey ran, she’d win all 50 states. It’d be a wrap.’
From time to time, the issue of a Winfrey presidential run comes up. Recently, she said that having no political experience held her back — before. Even the sitting president said he wanted her as his running mate, back in 2015. Huffington Post reported that on The David Rubenstein Show this month, Oprah said:
‘I never considered the question even a possibility. I thought, “Oh, gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough. Now I’m thinking …”Oh!”‘
A new Public Policy Polling Survey asked the interviewees a hypothetical question. Should she run for president, would Winfrey beat Trump in the 2020 presidential election. A full 47 percent of those polled wanted Oprah and only 40 percent selected Trump.
From your lips to God’s ears, Jones.
