Trump Whimpers & Whines About Republicans During ‘SAD’ Morning Meltdown

Following the embarrassment that was the GOP healthcare replacement attempt, Donald Trump is taking aim at any and all representatives and groups who sided against him.

On Twitter Thursday morning, Trump crucified members of the Freedom Caucus, likening them to Dems as enemies of the Republican party:

‘The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!’

President Trump taking aim at the Freedom Caucus is not particularly surprising, as they have also been bashed privately recently by much of the House Republican Conference.

Essentially the Freedom Caucus stood up for Americans — something that has been lost for what feels like a very long time in the White House, with representatives instead voting based on party lines and affiliations. It was their attempt to get the administration to re-work the health care bill to generate an alternative to the Affordable Care Act which is actually better and cheaper for Americans, but there is still doubt surrounding whether or not that will happen.

Freedom Caucus member Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) articulated this point quite clearly to POLITICO Tuesday, saying:

‘Here will be the test: My hope is the president will be inclined to allow the negotiations to go forward and we will be allowed to get a better bill than we did before. If we do, the Freedom Caucus will have a great equity in that conclusion. If we don’t, if we see the thing fail completely — nothing but shards around us — then we probably saw the Freedom Caucus overplay their hand… and I say that as a grateful member of the Freedom Caucus.’

Based on this and other tweets by the president however, he and his administration are far more interested in being seen as right, than creating something genuinely beneficial. Further to that point, it seems he’s willing to tear down and set fire to the Freedom Caucus to get the praise he seeks.
