Adding insult to injury for those still reeling from Trump’s ascent to power is a report from the Daily Pennsylvanian detailing that he has not at all been truthful about his academic background.
Trump has claimed on numerous occasions as a basis for his assertion that he’s a “really smart guy” that he graduated at the top of his class from Pennsylvania University’s Wharton School of Business. However, as much as can be ascertained both from firsthand accounts of Trump’s classmates and from available school records, such is simply not the case.
The school does not release academic records for any past students, something that a spokesperson asserted would not change because a former student had assumed a position of public prominence, as Trump has done. Still, the records that are already publicly available show that, even if Trump’s exact academic records can’t be seen, they’re certainly not “top of the class” material.
A copy of the 1968 Commencement Program obtained by the Daily Pennsylvanian shows no indication that Trump did particularly well at the school.
The Daily Pennsylvanian’s report states:
‘A COPY OF THE PROGRAM ACQUIRED FROM THE PENN ARCHIVES LISTS 20 WHARTON AWARD AND PRIZE RECIPIENTS, 15 CUM LAUDE RECIPIENTS, FOUR MAGNA CUM LAUDE RECIPIENTS AND TWO SUMMA CUM LAUDE RECIPIENTS FOR THE CLASS OF 1968.’
And as for Mr. President?
The Daily Pennsylvanian goes on: “Trump’s name appears nowhere on those lists.”
Indeed, as Trump’s classmates noted, if Trump had done well, then his name would have shown up somewhere among those noted for their academic achievement on that 1968 program. However, again, his name isn’t on the program.
The names that are listed on the program represent 15 percent of the graduating class from that year, meaning that Trump’s final standing academically was worse then at least 15 percent of his classmates, and it may in fact be much lower than that.
He claimed that he went on from his undergraduate business studies program to complete an MBA — but there’s no evidence of that, although such was already widely known thanks to Kurt Eichenwald.
5. While Trump suggests he has an MBA from prestigious Wharton graduate school, only attended undergraduate program for 2 years. Has no MBA

A number of Trump’s classmates spoke to the Daily Pennsylvanian about their take on Trump and his academic performance, and their takes on him are chilling. After all, he’s the president now, and he’s using his supposed academic prowess to justify why he should be exempt from daily intelligence briefings, among other things.
For example, 1968 Wharton graduate Louis Calomaris commented that Trump in his time at the school “was really loath to study much.” Calomaris said that Trump’s dismissal of his academics stemmed from his dedication to pursuing real estate deals.
‘HE WAS NOT AN INTELLECTUAL MAN, BUT THAT WASN’T WHAT HIS GOAL WAS. HE’S NOT AN INTELLECTUAL NOW, [AND] THAT’S PRETTY OBVIOUS… [W]HAT I SAW EARLY ON WAS AN UNBOUNDED AMBITION THAT DID COME TO FRUITION, BECAUSE IT MATCHED HIS FIRM’S NEEDS, AND THAT’S HOW THESE THINGS WORK.’

Ironically, Trump’s current wife, Melania Knauss, has also come under fire for falsifying portions of her academic background.
