Regardless of partisan lines, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton have something in common that ties them together in a strong bond — they both served as the president of the United States. It’s a bond that most people will never understand. So, staying in touch with one another, especially in such a hot political atmosphere, makes sense… especially in their twilight years.
Former President Bill Clinton visited with his predecessor on April 9. He tweeted about the visit:
‘Great to spend time with @GeorgeHWBush & Mrs. Bush in Houston today. We caught up about kids, grandkids, old times and new times. And socks.’

Indeed, they probably had plenty to catch up on when it comes to “new times” and the mess that America has found itself in a newly elected President Donald J. Trump. Especially considering Clinton’s wife and former first lady Hillary was the one who lost to Trump in the presidential election. When it comes to socks, however, Clinton gifted Big Daddy Bush with two pairs of sock – one with brown labs on them and another with bees.
Bush is well known for being absolutely fabulous when it comes to footwear, specifically socks, and Clinton is apparently a fan. Back in 2013, he tweeted:
‘Enjoyed my annual lunch with President and Mrs. Bush in Maine Envious of his “western cactus”-themed socks.#sockswag’

Other times Bush has showed off his love for socks include back in January of 2017 when Bush attended the Oakland Raiders vs Houston Texans game.
He also showed off these snazzy striped socks in 2013 when he attended an event at the White House.
At the opening ceremony of the George W. Bush Presidential Center in 2013, he showed off some fabulously pink socks.
Then there was this interesting pair back in 2012 at the HBO special screening of 41.
With being a president, you can expect Bush to be patriotic. He showed off that patriotism back with this very festive and patriotic pair of socks back in 2012.
Bush isn’t afraid, though, of showing off a more sensitive side – at least, when it comes to socks fashion. In 2012, he endorsed former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for president wearing a pair of beautiful lavender socks.
