The president took to Twitter this Tuesday morning to address a Kansas Congressional race, and in the process he helped reveal just how precarious of a position the national GOP actually is in.
Quite simply, the majority of the country does not support such Republican policy mainstays as repealing Obamacare and outlawing abortion. With that in mind, the GOP as is under Trump has a bleak future.
Trump wrote on Twitter: “Ron Estes is running TODAY for Congress in the Great State of Kansas. A wonderful guy, I need his help on Healthcare & Tax Cuts (Reform).”

The Congressional race in question is that to replace Mike Pompeo, who went from his job as a Kansas Congressman to serve as CIA Director.
This race is the first chance for voters anywhere in the nation to use their vote to offer a take on the progress of Trump’s presidential administration, and if the national mood is any indication, Estes is not assured of a victory in the staunchly Republican Kansas. Such a statement isn’t just conjecture; rather, the national GOP is literally flipping out at the very real possibility that Estes could lose to his Democratic challenger, James Thompson.
The national GOP has gone all out to try and get Estes into office, with right wing luminaries ranging from U.S. Senator Ted Cruz to Vice President Mike Pence and President Trump himself all campaigning on behalf of Estes. The latter two recorded robocalls on behalf of Estes’s campaign.
If the GOP can’t even rest assured that they will win this Kansas Congressional seat, than they must be really screwed.
